Important Information About Procedures For Opening A New Account

OakStar Bank will use the following “adequate” notice that it is requesting information to verify their identities:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PROCEDURES FOR OPENING A NEW ACCOUNT

To assist the government in the fight of finding terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.

What this means to you: When you open an account, we will ask your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents.

OakStar Bank, will post a notice of the requirement for identity verification in each entrance of OakStar Bank’s banking facilities and on the desks of each new account representative.

Documentation to be maintained separately from Signature Card:

  1. Any identification used to open the account will be scanned.
  2. Watchdog identification database/software will maintain a complete record of the verification and OFAC check.
  3. Copy of the request to State for Tax Identification Number (if applicable).
