HistoryVirginia Industrial Loan Corporation located at 322 Main Street Danville, Virginia was organized October 21, 1935. After 10 years operating under the original name an application was made to The State Corporation Commission of Virginia requesting permission to convert to a bank. On November 21, 1945 permission was received and Virginia Bank & Trust Company’s first day for business began on Saturday, November 24, 1945. The first drive-up window combined with the only “Motor Bank” in Danville made this hometown bank ahead of others in the area in 1963. Ten years later in 1973, Virginia Bank & Trust opened their first branch office on the corner of Riverside Drive and Piney Forest Road. The customer was always the first priority. This gave the bank the opportunity to provide convenience and quality customer service. Having outgrown their original location, Virginia Bank & Trust’s Corporate Headquarters moved to their current location at 336 Main Street, Danville, Virginia in November 1974. A second branch office was opened in 1983 on the corner of North Main Street and Seminole Drive. Extended hours were established for the drive-up window from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. A third branch office was opened in 1989 on the corner of 58 East and Airport Drive. Two years later our fourth branch office was opened in Chatham at 55 North Main Street. Virginia Bank Bankshares Inc., a bank holding company, was formed in January 1998 for Virginia Bank & Trust. Our fifth branch office, Mt. Hermon, was opened in 1999 at the corner of Franklin Turnpike and Mt. Hermon Circle. Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) were installed in 2000 at the Riverside, North Danville, Airport and Mt. Hermon Offices. The bank began offering customers VISA Check Cards. Virginia Bank & Trust launched its first website www.vabanktr.com in August 2005. Internet Banking and Bill Pay were also added to the products and services offered by the bank. In July 2006, our sixth branch office, Brosville Station, opened at 10370 Martinsville Highway in Brosville, Virginia. The bank launched its social networking Facebook page in March 2010. In December 2010, our seventh branch office, Rustburg, located at 1729 Calohan Road, Rustburg, Virginia was opened. This was our first office opened in Campbell County. It has always been the goal of Virginia Bank & Trust to profitably deliver quality customer services that meet the financial needs of the communities we serve. Presidents R.J.
