NHL Unsure About Participation in Olympics

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said they are still unsure if league players will compete in the 2022 Winter Olympics.

"We have real concerns about whether or not it's sensible to be participating. We're already past the time that we hoped this would be resolved. We'll deal with it, just as we've managed to be agile and flexible over the last 15 months," said Bettman.

Bettman cited health concerns and time constraints as their reasons for not sending players to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

"There's a lot of uncertainty and unknowns that we're trying to grapple with, and that takes time," added NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly.

The possibility for the Olympic time frame could only be known once NHL releases its schedule for next season before the 2021 draft on July 23.
