Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy pleaded not guilty on May 23 to nine counts of sexual offenses, including seven charges of rape, against six women.

The 27-year-old French international denied all the charges, including one on attempted rape and one on sexual assault, at Chester Crown Court ahead of his trial on July 25.

Mendy replied "not guilty" nine times while standing in the dock as the usher placed the charges.

The offenses allegedly took place at Mendy's home in Prestbury, Cheshire between October 2018 and August 2021.

Mendy appeared before the court alongside co-accused Louis Saha Matturie, who denied eight counts of rape and four counts of sexual assault involving eight women between July 2012 and August 2021.

Both remain on bail.

Manchester City suspended Mendy after being charged by the police in August 2021.

Mendy joined Manchester City in 2017 from Monaco and has made 50 Premier League appearances.
